A trip to the midwest

Zack and I left home Monday evening to drive to my parent's house. We were meeting up with them and then getting into their rental car to begin the 14 hour trek to Iowa to visit family and attend the Orange City Tulip festival. I got the "opportunity" to drive us from home to my parent's house since Zack would be helping with some of the driving on the way to Iowa. Zack was not particularly looking forward to our overnight drive (he doesn't sleep well in the care, unlike my family, which can sleep almost anywhere.).

Yay!! A Fourteen Hour car ride!!

We got into Sioux City Iowa around 10 o'clock Tuesday morning and so, since our family wasn't expecting us that early, we stopped at a Perkins to have some breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to Menards, which is a really nice chain of hardware stores that are located in the midwest . My dad and Zack LOVE Menards, and they were really excited to have a chance to go into one and look around, since we do not have any in the south.

We left Menards and headed the rest of the way to Orange City to visit family. We made it to my Aunt and Uncle's house and spent some time talking/catching up with them. My Aunt, who is a great cook, made a rhubarb pie, which was delicious!

My Aunt and Uncle had a pot luck with some of their friends planned before we had planned our visit. So, we went to get dinner at a local grocery store and drove around town. Then, we went to visit my grandfather at his independant living home. He is 93 and still gets around quite well, walking about a mile with his walker daily.

We met back up with my Aunt and Uncle to go over the the local college that my Uncle works at to watch a movie on the projector. We watched "Bedtime Stories" with Adam Sandler. It was differnet than I thought that it was going to be, but it was pretty cute.
