It's been a while...
It's been a while since I made dinner for Zack and I. Sometimes I just get SO tired of convenience dinners (frozen dinners, fast food, etc). So, tonight, I decided to try a new recipe. We had Peach Chicken, Butter, Parmesan Pasta, and salad. I wasn't sure what Peach chicken would taste like, but it turned out to have pretty good flavor and both Zack and I liked it! It was nice to have something home cooked after a couple weeks of not cooking.

Game night at the puddle.
Monday night because so many people were going to be gone, we called small group off. A couple of people had already arranged babysitting for the night. So, Zack and I decided to have the people that were still in town and could come over to play games. We introduced Brandon and Gina to Settlers of Catan. They both caught on really fast and we had a great time. I somehow snuck a win out in the end....that really never happens. So, I was pretty proud of myself! We had a great time hanging out and playing games, but we sure missed the rest of the couples from our small group. I am looking forward to having everyone together again!!
A baby Shower for Grayson.

Sunday, we went to a baby shower to celebrate the upcoming birth of Heather and Andrews little boy Grayson. It was a lot of fun to be able to get together with close family friends to encourage and bless Heather and Andrew as they prepare for this new stage in their lives. I did not get a chance to make them anything for the baby (I barely got the poodle skirts done in time and I couldn't decide what to make!). So, on Saturday, I went shopping with Mama Sandy and Rach. I ended up getting them a gift card so that they could get something that they really needed for their precious little boy! We cannot wait to meet the little guy. He is going to be born into a loving and godly family! ...and he will have lots of extended "family" that loves him very much!

Boys, they never grow up...

Every year for Easter, the Easter Bunny leaves us an Easter basket at Zack's Parent's house. This year the Easter Bunny gave us Nerf guns in our baskets. So, this week when we headed back to Zack's parent's house, we packed our Nerf guns along. Zack, his brothers, father and Nate all pulled out their Nerf arsenal and went to battle. They split into teams and they played for HOURS! They had a blast! They had just finished playing when Mama Sandy, Rach and I got back from shopping for baby shower gifts for the next day.

We also celebrated my father in laws birthday this weekend...I guess it's true that guys never really grow up.
Rock'n and a roll'n at the hop
Last friday night, I went and picked Zack up from a MARTA station and we headed down to a Sock Hop that some family friends put on every year to raise money for Leukemia and Lymphoma. This is the first year that Zack and I have gotten to go. I had been planning to make poodle skirt for Mama Sandy, Rachel and I to wear, but for some reason or another I had not gotten around to it. So, Thursday after work, I headed over to Hancock fabrics and got fabric to make the skirts and then went home and started on them. I had gotten 3 coordinating colors so that Mama Sandy, Rach and I would look cute in pictures together. I was sewing...and sewing...and sewing...I finally finished the skirts around 2 oclock in the morning on Friday morning. I did not have time to make the pettiskirts to go under them, but hey, a skirt is a skirt.
Needless to say, I was a little tired at work on Friday, and we were SLAMMED! It was a busy day...which most Fridays are. I had to leave work by 6 in order to make it down to the MARTA station in time to pick up my man...who I had not seem all week since he was at a conference in California. I was trying to get as many notes finished as I could before I had to hit the road. (thankfully I had packed the car before I left that morning so I could leave straight from work). Dr. D and Lisa (our new NP who is job sharing with me) we supposed to be on call Friday night...so, I was a little distressed when I started getting pages from the paging service. I called them back to let them know that I was not on call and that Lisa was...there was a lot of calling back and form...you gave us the wrong number,... oh, no wait you didn't...she is not responding...Lisa eventually called me back and it turned out that she had switched call with another girl in the office because she and her family were going to the beach....so it was a disaster. By this time it was 6 and I needed to hit the road so I let Dr. D know what was happening as I walked out the door and she told me not to worry about it. I was heading down the interstate when I got a text stating that no one was responding and would I please call...I called Dr. D to find out what was going on. There was no way that I could answer calls as I sped down the interstate to get Zack. Dr. D said not to worry that she had gotten the text too and had taken care of it....ugh! I hate that! I felt so bad, but I was relieved that I didn't have to worry about answering mommy calls while I was driving or while we were spending time with family and friends.
I sucessfully found the MARTA station that I was suppsed to meet Zack at...the only problem is that he wasn't there yet. So, I thought that I would go spend some time at the little library that I had passed on my way and wait until he got there. No such luck however, the library closed at 5 on Fridays...so, I sat in the library parking lot until Zack got closer. I then ended up going into every parking lot except the one where Zack actually was. I even accidentally went down a busses only enterance. Ugh! I was getting so frustrated. Finally Zack found me and I made him drive the rest of the way to the Sock Hop.
Zack and I got to the sock hop a couple hours after it started so all of our friends and family were already there. I carried in the poodle skirts and Mama Sandy, Rach and I changed in the Bathroom. Thankfully, the skirts fit and I thought that we all looked pretty cute in our skirts.

Zack and I were grateful that we made it to the Sock Hop in time to see the special entertainment. Zack's dad and some of his buddies all got together and provided a few minutes of laughs and entertainment. They were the retirement village people. They all came into the room in hospital gowns with walkers or canes and then as they got on stage pulled off the gowns to reveal their costumes. It was really funny to watch them up there dancing around to village people songs.
There was a silent auction to raise money for the charity and Zack bid on a couple of items. We won a night at Midevil Times (dinner and a show) and a gift card for O charly's (we do not have one in our little town.) Zack was so proud of his wins and I am sure that we will have a good time using them.

They are finally here!!
Zack and I have been in the market for a new washer and dryer for a while now and we finally broke down and bought them. We have gone and looked at them a couple of times and Zack has been watching prices. Our old Washer and Dryer were a gift to us from Zack's parent's when we got married and they were a sturdy set of used appliances. They have served us well, but as with anything, they had started to loose some of their functions as they aged. I was having to jam a hanger into the washer and jiggle it around to make sure that the washer would work. The sensor that let it know that the door was closed had stopped working. So, I am really excited about our new washer and dryer...and Zack even said that they made him want to wash clothes! WOO HOO if that is true, they were worth every penny!
Celebrating Caio and Lacey
Two weekends ago, Zack and I went down to Atlanta to celebrate the marriage of two of our dear friends from College, Caio and Lacey. Their wedding was beautiful and SO fun. Caio is from Brazil and so alot of Brazilian customs were thrown into their wedding.
The groomsmen came around and sold pieces of their ties in exchange for donations for the bride and groom.
...and then there was the Brazilian music and dancing. So much fun!!
We also were able to catch up with a lot of our friends that we hadn't seen in a while.
Allison, Lauren, Kevin, Me, Zack, Jay, and Karmen
Amanda and Ryan
Emily, Patrick, Adam, and Sarah
We are SO excited for Caio and Lacey as they start this new chapter in their lives.

Man Cold
I saw this video today and I about fell in the floor laughing! Dr. D and I were just talking not too long ago how when our husbands get sick...well, they get a little needy! Zack's not this bad, but he does milk it for all it's worth! This little video made me think of it! Hope that you get a laugh from it too!
a little under the weather.
I have been sick since last Wednesday. I woke last Wednesday with what I thought was a scratchy throat from drainage due to all of the pollen...but I felt worse...and worse...and worse...as the day went on. Zack and I were supposed to go meet our friends Forrest and Caren for dinner to meet the newest member of their family, a 6 day old preemie baby boy....so when I started having chills and feeling achy I called Zack to bring home a thermometer. The last thing that I wanted to do was get that little one sick! Zack got home and I took my temperature...100.3, not quite a fever, but close enough to make Zack and I cancel our dinner date with Forrest and Caren. I was really disappointed! I haven't really been feeling too much better since then and yesterday I woke up o discover that my voice decided to take a vacation....great....I squeaked my way through work yesterday and I am hoping that my voice will get a little better before tonight when I am on call! BOOO!
Despite the sickness, I have gotten a few things accomplished. Last Wednesday before I started feeling too bad, I made myself something that I have been wanting for a while, but just haven;t had time to make one for me....an apron. This little apron has been cut out for a while just waiting to be brought to life. So, Wednesday, I decided, was that day! I think that it turned out pretty cute. The only thing that I would change is that I wish I had used a darker color for my name on one of the sides.
Zack and I went to my parent's house for Easter this year. We left after I got home from work Friday. Zack had gotten Good Friday off so he was already home. We got to my parents house at about 9 o'clock their time and discovered a dark house. Thankfully I had a key or we might have been sitting in our car for a while. :) My parents had gone to church and then out to dinner with my brother. They got home probably 20-30 minutes later. We talked and caught up for a while and then went to bed.
Saturday, mom and I were going to go shopping and we took my brother with us because he wanted to go see How to Train Your Dragon at the IMAX theater that was at the mall we were going to. He really wanted mom and I to share the experience with him...so, he ended up talking us into watching it with him. It was a pretty cute movie and the computer animation is getting better and better.
Sunday we went to my parents church for Eater service. The message was good and the choir was large and good, but I couldn't help missing the energy of our smaller choir back home. We took some family pictures when we got home from church. I think that these might be the first family pictures that we have taken since Zack and I's wedding about 5 years ago.
Mom had made a big Easter dinner of Pork Tenderloin, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, Asparagus, green beans, and apple sauce. It was really good...and nice to not have to cook for a change...plus poor Zack had been starving all last week because I felt too tired and weak to do much other than sleep when I got home from work all last week.
The Easter Bunny brought my parents a little something as a thank you for all of the meals and fun for the weekend.
We got home from my Parents around 11:30 Sunday night. So, we didn't really have time to do anything more than unpack the car and get in bed.
Monday night we started a new format for our small group. We have been trying to figure out how to change things up to be the most beneficial and helpful to those involved in it. So, the new schedule for each month is:
Week 1 Guy/Girl Bible study
Week 2 Couple Bible Study
Week 3 Couple Bible Study
Week 4 Fellowship time.
This past week was our first Guy/Girl week. The guys, well, I'm not really sure what they are planning to do, but the girls are starting a Beth Moore Study that my Mama Sandy let me borrow a while back that I have been wanting to do for a while but hadn't found the right time. We are looking forward to it and the girls were excited that they would have a whole month to finish the homework.
Last night, I made some dinner when I got home. Zack was a little shocked since it had been a while since he had seen me in the kitchen, but he soon recovered enough to sit at the table and eat dinner with me! I made Apricot - glazed pork tenderloin (which we had had for Easter, but I had gotten all of the ingredients to make it last week and then didn't because I was sick) smashed red potatoes, corn, and salad.
Something to celebrate!
A week ago Monday, we were sitting in Small Group when we got a txt (I should say Pam got a txt since my phone was where it usually is, not anywhere close to me) from our friend's Caren and Forrest. They were in town and wanted to know how long everyone was going to be at our house cause they were going to stop by.
So, When they got here they had A and J with them and they were all dressed up. We asked Caren what they had been up to and she smiled and said "hold on a minute" as she went to help A go potty. While she was doing her motherly duty, we all speculated on what the news could be. Two theories quickly formed in our minds. 1. the judge had awarded them custody of A and J, the two darling foster children that they are wanting to adopt and have had for close to 2 years now or 2. they are pregnant. Caren came out of the bathroom shortly later and she and Forrest looked at each other and smiled. We all looked at them expectantly and then they said proudly, "The judge terminated rights and we are going to get custody of A and J. The mother has 30 days to contest, but that is unlikely....Oh, and we're pregnant!" We all screamed and congratulated them and hugged on A and J. I decided that it was a moment to be captured on film. So, I took their picture in front of our Christmas tree....yep that's right, the ol' Christmas Tree is still proudly standing in our living room. I had the best intentions of taking it down by Easter, but that...well, that didn't happen, but I plan to tackle that today!

Caren and Forrest, we are SO excited for you and know that A and J are exactly where they are meant to be! I cannot wait to see how the Lord continues to use you in the lives of those sweet children and I cannot wait to see this new little one that God is purposefully knitting together to become your child! We are so happy for you and love you and your precious family! :)
