Today is my brother's birthday. I called him tonight after I got off of work to tell him that I was thinking of him and that I hoped that he was having a good day...it turns out that he wasn't. He actually had a pretty bad day. Don't you hate it when bad things happen on your birthday? That special day when all is supposed to go well for you! It just seems especially wrong somehow!
Pete, I know that your birthday didn't turn out quite like you had hoped or planned, but I hope that your week improves and that you find something fun to do to celebrate your birthday! We are thinking of you...we even ate some chocolate chip cookies in your honor tonight! :) I hope that this year is filled with God's richest blessings. Love ya big brother!

One Crazy Night!

Zack and I are not really that into Halloween...I just don't like scary things...but what we do like is an occasional chance to act silly. So, we were thrilled by the idea of getting all dressed up and going bowling with some friends of ours from college. Zack and I had trouble deciding what we wanted to be and we were working on our costumes until Saturday afternoon...we wanted something cheap, but fun. Zack ended up being a robot...I tired to get him to wear some silver running tights under it, but he refused saying that that wouldn't be appropriate...I was a s'more. I think that we probably spent about 12 dollars on our costumes as a whole. We tried to use things that we had laying around the house and spend the least that we could. I was pretty happy with the finished project. We left Caren and Forrest's house and went to meet up with Patrick (dunkin') Embo (donuts) and Skye (Rosie the Riveter) at the bowling alley. We had a BLAST.
We had to put Zack's costume together in the parking lot of the bowling alley...the owner was looking out at us like we were the craziest people he's ever seen, but by the end of the night, they were embracing our silliness.

We got a lot of compliments on our costumes...and a lot of chuckles at our antics. Needless to say, we did not bowl very well. Zack had us all cracking up as he would do his signature "extendo arm" when he had a good bowl and shut down when he bowled poorly.

Embo and Patrick became experts of the donut twirl.

....and, well, Skye had that Rosie the Riveter pose down by the end of the night.

After we finished bowling, we handed out awards for costumes and bowling.
Funniest: Went to Zack, the HonkyBot

Most Boo t ful: Went to Rosie the Riveter

Most Creative: tie between the s'more and the donut

Scariest: the s'more

Dead Last: Dunkin'

Best Bowling score overall: Dunkin'

Dead last Bowler: Rosie the Riveter

We had such a good time being crazy together. After our mini awards ceremony, we headed over to sonic for a fresh fruit slush and then went to our friends house to "trick or treat", but when we got there, they were already in bed. So, we posed in their driveway and took pictures! :)
We had trouble fitting Zack in the car with his costume on...he had to lay out in the backseat. He was pretty uncomfortable.
We ended the night by going back to our house and watching a scary movie...I pretty much watched the back side of one of our couch pillows for about 2 hours. Then because it was a pretty freaky movie, we followed that up by a comedy. Embo and Patrick live about 2.5 -3 hours away from us and so we FINALLY talked them into just spending the night and going home in the am...and Skye crashed on our couch making it a true sleep over!
little J turned 2!!!
Yesterday, we went over to our friend's house to celebrate their little boy's birthday. He turned 2 last week and he was VERY excited about his new big boy toys. He has been surrounded by dolls and dress up clothes...and he finally got his first toy trucks and trains...and he LOVED them! We were so thankful that we were able to be there to celebrate his big day with him! Thanks Caren and Forrest for inviting us!!
