Zack and I traveled to Huntsville with his club frisbee team the weekend before last for a frisbee tournament. We left home around 5 in a caravan to Huntsville. We were really blessed to have a place provided for us all to stay with Anna Lauren's family. It is always such a blessing whenever anyone opens their home to us and we were truly thankful for the opportunity to both a, save money and b, have the opportunity to spend time in fellowship with the team.
Friday night, we had a spaghetti dinner that A.L's aunt had provided....and, it would have been delicious...if we hadn't accidentally burnt it. Her Aunt had made a big pot of Spaghetti before she and her husband had left for the weekend...so, when we got there, all we had to do was warm it up. The pot was placed on an eye of the stove and left to heat...unfortunately, no one realized that it was the noodles mixed with the meat sauce...and that is needed to be stirred...so, the bottom burnt. The flavor of the spaghetti was great...well, that is until the strong smoky flavor came out strong as an after taste. I was going to eat it quietly to be polite until someone else spoke up and asked if anyone else thought that the spaghetti tasted burnt...then we all kinda laughed and agreed that it tasted burnt...sadly, we ended up throwing out the majority of the spaghetti, but it was such a thoughtful thing for A.L's aunt to have done.
After completing and cleaning up dinner, the guys went up to the play room for some rock band and ping pong competition.
We all headed to bed pretty early so that the guys could get plenty of sleep before heading out for battle in the AM. The guys planned to leave an hour or 2 before the girls since they needed to get to the fields early to warm up.
The guys left around 9 Saturday am for the fields and we slept in a little later. We had to spend a little time looking for some coffee and then headed over to the frisbee fields to support our men.
The guys had already finished their first game, crushing their competition. Their second game went about the same with them claiming an easy victory. The third game was a little more difficult, but they prevailed with a 1 point lead over the team that had defeated them at the Monkey Bowl tournament in Nashville...it was a little bit vindicating to beat the team that had knocked them out of the elite bracket in TN. The last game of the day was against a team from Birmingham that is pretty good. They ended up beating us, leaving us with a 3-1 record for the first day.

The tournament had pizza dinner included in the team entry fee. so, we stayed and got free pizza before heading back to our place of residence to shower and unwind for the evening. We ended up making a Smoothie king run and then heading back to the house and talking. A few of the group stayed up to watch The Patriot, but we decided to head to bed before it got too late.
Sunday am, the guys got up a little earlier so that they could get to the fields a little sooner than the day before. They had a bi in the am, but wanted time to get warmed up before their game. The girls stayed behind and cleaned up the house that we had stayed at and packed up the rest of our belongings. We headed out to the fields after stopping for some Starbuck's coffee.
By the time that we got to the fields, the guys were pretty frustrated with their performance, and they proceeded to beat themselves and lost their first game of the day. The guys were pretty disappointed since this meant that they were playing for 5th place in the tournament rather than for 1st. However, I was really proud of the guys for sticking in there and winning the rest of their games.

I was really proud of Zack. He played really well throughout the tournament. I guess all of his hard work and practice is starting to pay off.

Sunday after the tournament was over, we headed to a little BBQ place that Jeff had heard about that was supposed to have award winning BBQ. it was pretty good, and while their BBQ was really quite flavorful, I seriously doubt that their coleslaw has won any awards....it really looked like coleslaw hat someone had chewed up and spit back in the plate...who wants to eat coleslaw that has been processed to such a consistency? ...not me! I wish that I had know what it was going to be like before I had ordered...I would have substituted it for something else!

Our drive home was uneventful and it was nice to be home sleeping in our own bed again to try to get a little rest before another hectic week started.
