This year we spent Easter with Zack's family. We headed down to Atlanta to meet up with Zack's parents and then we all headed down to Macon to stay with Ben and Rachel. That way the whole family would be together for Easter.
Good Friday was Daddy G's birthday this year. We headed to Panera Bread for dinner.
After dinner, we went to Ben and Rachel's church for their Good Friday service. Then we looked around the church grounds for a little while before heading back to Ben and Rachel's.
Rachel had gotten a lady at her church to make a red velvet cake for Daddy G's birthday. So, we sang happy birthday, let him open some presents, and ate cake to celebrate Daddy G.
We decided to play Ticket To Ride. Zack and I played as a team and we would have done well, but we got waylaid by Rachel and Ben. Thus, dooming us to not be able to finish a couple of our destinations.
Saturday morning, Rachel made a delicious breakfast. She had made a french toast casserole, fresh fruit, and bacon.
After breakfast, Ben, Zack, and Daddy G went outside to work on cutting down a a large branch that had cracked away from a large tree in their yard. Ben climbed up in the tree and cut down the branch while Daddy G and Zack applied pressure from a rope attached to the branch.
Mama Sandy, Rach and I decided to go shopping and leave the guys to do whatever it is that guys do. We went to a neat store called charming charlies. It has every type of accessory that you could imagine, shoes, bags, jewelry...I got a really cute little headband and a pair of black shoes. We then went to Anne Taylor loft where we all ended up getting the same shirt in different colors. The guys called us to see when we were coming home. They were starting to get hungry.
We had hamburgers and hot dogs, chips, dip, and BBQ beans.
After dinner, the guys finished their game of Settlers of Catan.
Sunday morning, we headed to Ben and Rach's church for Easter Service. Then we headed back to their house and got lunch preparations underway. Rach's brother Carson and his wife Jennifer came over for Easter dinner too. Zack's parents still give us Easter Baskets every year, which I love, and Zack's mom looks for fun unique items to be the "basket" each year. This years basket was a cooler for Matt and glass drink servers for each of the couples.
Our Easter meal was delicious. Ben and Rachel had gotten a Boston Butt and then we had a number of delicious sides to go with it.
After lunch, the guys went out side to play with their new toys. They had each gotten a sling shot for Easter and they went through various ideas of things to launch at eachother from them. First, they were going to use plastic practice golf balls, but they decided that they would hurt too much. Then it was the large marshmallows...but again too much mass. They then settled on mini marshmallows, which while stinging, didn't hurt too bad. Unfortunately, most of the marshmallows were used in preparation of the meal. they ended up getting sweet gum seeds and shooting those at eachother.
Jennifer even tried them out.
Mama Sandy, Rach, and I decided to wear our new shirts and see if anyone noticed...they didn't.
We had to leave fairly early Sunday afternoon because we had to get home. We had a great time spending time with family. Hope that you all had a wonderful Easter and that you were able to reflect on the significance of the day....That our Lord is indeed RISEN!! Glory be to God! Happy Easter!
I stumbled across this video. I think that it would be a neat to be a part of something like this.
